A creative fusion of Korean culinary tradition and Indonesian flavors has brought BINUS Business Hotel Management at BINUS Bekasi students Livia and Claudia from B29 to the top of the podium at K-Dessert Contest 2026.

Celebrating culinary creativity, cultural exploration, and innovation, Livia and Claudia, students of BINUS Hotel Management (BHM) from batch B29, proudly secured First Winner at K-Dessert Contest 2026 with their unique dessert creation, Red Ginger Songpyeon.

Inspired by the traditional Korean rice cake known as songpyeon, the students introduced their own interpretation by incorporating red ginger as a distinctive flavor element. Their creation brought together the charm of Korean culinary heritage and the aromatic character of an Indonesian ingredient, resulting in a dessert that reflects both cultural appreciation and creative experimentation menthored by Chef Budi Riyanto as a pastry lecturer in Business Hotel Management.

The competition provided an opportunity for the students to explore beyond conventional dessert-making, transforming their culinary knowledge into an innovative product. Through their creation, Livia and Claudia demonstrated how traditional food concepts can serve as inspiration for new ideas, while ingredients from different culinary cultures can be brought together in a thoughtful and exciting way.
